Email: AZNMan07@AOL.com FIRST IMPRESSIONS The first time I heard about this, I was very excited that Daisy was starting to make “SoftAir” guns again. When I saw the news on Airsoft Retreat, I knew I had to get one. The pictures on the article didn’t do the gun justice, you have to see it up close. When I went to pick up one at Wal-Mart I thought the slide and frame were metal, the finish on the gun is very good, and makes it look like metal. But to my dismay, it wasn’t metal. When I opened up the package I wasn't expecting that much, but there was a lot. Inside was the gun, “AirStrike” BB’s, and the net target with target paper. The net target and paper was probably worth $10 already, and it is quality. Holding the gun was sort of uncomfortable because of the grip size, it is actually a large frame gun in my opinion. QUALITY This gun is quality. There is actually metal parts!!! The trigger is metal, so is the safety switch, hammer, takedown lever, springs and the spring guide and mag release button. SWEET!!! Also this gun can be field stripped! But it doesn’t tell you how in the manual, which is only 3 pages long. The plastic on this gun is pretty decent, and this gun does have some weight to it, it probably weighs more than my G3, but anyways most of the weight comes from the big chunk of lead weight in the magazine. The open Ejection Port was a plus, so was the Hammer being able to be pulled back. There were some real weird things I noticed about the gun though. One it was made in Taiwan, that’s very all American for Daisy. Two, the manual doesn’t explain much, especially about it not saying how to field strip it. Three, if you look closely on the picture of the gun in the back of the package, there is a logo on the grip, and it looks like the Beretta one. Once again I’m going to say that the silver finish is quality, and this gun does look very real from a distance. There are no stupid orange marks on the barrel, so you don’t have to paint over it. The only thing wrong about the gun is the Daisy trademarks and Warnings spreaded around the slide of the gun. But who am I to complain this is a kick ass gun. FIRING/PERFORMANCE Pretty decent power, but not as powerful as my G3. It could go thru a piece of cardboard and slightly dent another piece. Pretty accurate but I haven’t done any long range testing. Firing on this gun is nice and smooth. Cocking the gun is one smooth light action. Firing is easy. The trigger pull is relatively light, and for some reason I like the sound of the gun firing, you’ll just have to hear it when you get one. MODIFICATIONS A couple mods came to mind when I bought the gun. One was to add a suppressor to the gun since it had an exposed part of the outer barrel. Another was to purchase real steel grips from Beretta and put them on. Thirdly was to add more weight were there was space. One thing you might want to do when you get this gun is to lubricate the parts that contact each other when cocking the slide such as the inside of the frame and slide and the contact leads. LONG TERM I just got this gun yester day, but I have a feeling that is would survive a couple month of punishment, if it doesn’t, you could always go down to your local Wal-Mart and return it. But it’s only $18 so just buy another one. CONCLUSION Ahh! This gun is a must buy, perfect sidearm to use in skirmishes. This gun comes with a trap target for only $18, no shipping and handling and you don’t have to wait for the UPS man anymore. And if you don’t like it, you can return it, all in the same day! I would never return this beauty though. I just hope that Daisy continues in their line of “AirStrike” guns and make other pistols, maybe even a rifle or two. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() [Editor's Note] I do not agree with this last statement, as the lack of hop-up makes this pistol unsuitable for outdoor skirmishing. Long-range testing is definately needed to show the true nature of this gun. |
